Philosophy of Giving
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship." Romans 12:1
After the Apostle Paul's explanation of the good needs concerning the person and the work of Christ, He concludes the most reasonable thing for us to do is to offer all that we are and have to God. This includes the financial resources with which we have been entrusted. We give as an act of worship in the light of all God has done for us.
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:6-9
Paul also encourages us to give out of glad and generous hearts because God has been infinitely generous to us. We give, not because we have to, but because we want to. We want to express our love for God in a tangible way.
